Ms Wendy Sorrell

Wendy Sorrell has been involved with purebred dogs for over 50 years as an owner, breeder, exhibitor, trainer, groomer and an AKC Judge (#75680).  She has been involved with German Shepherd Dogs (GSD), Pembroke Welsh Corgis (PWC) and Akitas.  She has also taught all-breed conformation classes.

Wendy has bred or co-bred and owned more than 10 Akita champions and finished several PWC’s belonging to her mother.  She has also earned a Rally title for one of her dogs.  Ms Sorrell’s passion is being a breeder.  She is a member of the Nisqually Kennel Club and the Staffordshire Terrier Club of America.  Ms Sorrell actively stewards at dog shows.

Ms Sorrell currently judges Akitas and Junior Showmanship and is provisional for Alaskan Malamutes.  Her goal is to continue her education on more breeds, to give back to the sport and to be known as a “good judge” of purebred dogs.

Although she has never owned a Silky Terrier, she has quite a bit of experience grooming them and participating with them in handling classes.  She has not attended a Silky Terrier National Specialty.  Ms Sorrell would want the membership voting to know that she would like this breed when she gets too old for “big dogs”.  She enjoys their personalities.  She would want to make her Sweeps assignment a good experience for both puppies and veterans.  Ms Sorrell has frequently judged matches and regional specialties for Akitas, Alaskan Malamutes, Samoyeds and PWC’s.

Over the past several years, Ms Sorrell has mentored with many Silky breeders, studied the breed and she would consider it a great honor to be chosen to judge the Puppy and Veteran Sweepstakes at the 2011 Silky Terrier Club of America National Specialty.
